I don't know if I should be blogging right now because I'm not in the happiest wedding place at this time but things are happening so I want to get it in here.
I got an e-mail from theknot.com yesterday telling me that it was only 6 months until my wedding and I had better get on my game. Well, it didn't say that exactly but it did remind me of how quickly the day is coming and I know how much more work there is still to be done.
I pretty much dedicated today to wedding stuff. It was a great long Sunday without too many distractions and I got a few things done and one or two things started.
The first thing I did was get to work on ordering our wedding invitations. The easy part was that we had already chosen the design and the place. Should be no problem. I fill in the blanks, click the express checkout and we're done. I also felt good about the fact that I had a discount and free shipping from the place I was ordering from. So, I went through the motions but ran into a speed bump at checkout. No free shipping. Now, when I think I'm getting shafted there's no stopping me. My next problem is that it's Sunday and, of course, there is no one available for customer service. Luckily, someone was out there in cyberspace and after a few e-mails and only one or two more glitches I had my order. Not quite the piece of cake I wanted it to be but it's done now and that's all I could ask for.
Step two was chatting with mom so we could get the last 4 addresses we needed for the save the date cards. During that conversation I got the addresses but I also got some more info on the guest lodging. The back story is that Matt and I decided on Bear Creek Lodge because of the "family reunion" type atmosphere it promised. Unfortunately, we need more than atmosphere; we need family too. I guess we never considered the fact that our families would not want to stay with us at the lodge. I can see the drawbacks. There is no t.v., no phones, and you're not supposed to bring in outside food or drink. I guess we just thought those things wouldn't be necessary for one weekend where we'd just be celebrating our wedding (not the food and drink part - there is a restaurant in the lodge). Plus, the lodge costs about 1/2 what the other hotel costs even with the wedding block discount. However, we are running out of family to invite to stay. I'm not going to lie and say that I'm not a little disappointed. We'll have to just press on though. It's not as if we'll run out of guests to invite to stay with us and I know we're going to have fun regardless. There are still a few more family members that we couldn't ask with the first round of room invites because there are only 15 rooms. So, we'll move on to round 2 and even 3 or 4 if we have to. Also, if you're looking for the hotel info, I haven't posted it for this reason specifically. It will get here. Just give me a little more time to fill our lodge rooms and then I'll put up the other stuff. =-)
Next on today's to-do list was bridesmaid dresses. I went online and found tons and tons of dresses that I liked. I e-mailed them all to my sister. As maid of honor it is her duty to sort through them and narrow them down to 10 or so. She'll send them to me and I'll narrow it down further by checking out the dresses at the stores where they are available in Spokane and making sure they are in the styles and colors I really wanted and I'm not being thrown off by computer monitor shades. Finally, I'll send the remaining dresses out to the bridesmaids so they can choose the ones they like and we can go try some on too. Hopefully this can all be done within the month but it sounds like we'll be praying we can get it done before Matt and I get back from our honeymoon. =-)
Let's see... next I went through my wedding planner and update some contact info and did some boring stuff. Finally, I decided to find a cupcake maker. Surprisingly there's not a lot to choose from here in Spokane but I got the word out to about 4 different companies that I'm looking and need some price comparisons. I've already had one company get back to me already and it's only been about an hour. So now Matt and I are going to look at her flavors and see what we like as well as purdy designs to top the deliciousness. Yum Yum! But, I only have eleven minutes of battery life left on the laptop so I'd better get to it.
